As the official charity of the Lady Cliento Children’s Hospital, the Foundation offers support and care for ill children and their families throughout Queensland.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation’s ultimate goal is to improve children’s health by funding research, vital medical equipment and improvements to clinical care that lead to faster diagnoses, better treatments and ultimately cures for life-altering conditions.
Due to the support from The Honda Foundation, The Children’s Hospital Foundation has purchased two ‘gravity chairs’ for the Palliative Care Unit at the Lady Cliento Children’s Hospital. The chairs will be used within a special ‘home-like’ suite to support families of children suffering from illnesses.
The highly-specialised chairs use a foam positioning system to support children allowing them to relax in a sitting position. Importantly, it also provides another option for patients to sit comfortably, rather than spending all day in bed.
Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Rosie Simpson, said “We want to help achieve the best possible quality of life for these kids and their families by working with the hospital’s palliative care team to ensure they are provided with the highest-level of care. With the support from the Honda Foundation, we can help to ensure these children are as comfortable as possible during what will be the most challenging time of their lives.”
Commenting on the recent donation, The Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Stephen Collins, said “The Honda Foundation is very proud to support The Children’s Hospital Foundation and we are delighted to be able to improve the lives of the children during their most difficult times. The work and research they do is vital in treatment development as well as providing critical care and support to unwell children and their families.”
