The Honda Foundation Donates $100,000 To Rural Aid Australia

The Honda Foundation has donated $100,000 to Rural Aid Australia, a charity that exists to relieve the poverty, illness and distress for disadvantaged Australians impacted by droughts, floods and other natural disasters.

The donation will enable Rural Aid to send volunteers to struggling farms in rural and drought-affected communities to assist with maintenance of farms to keep them in operation. In 2018 Rural Aid will attend 15 farm rescues and hopes to double that figure by 2020.

“We at The Honda Foundation are proud to offer support to Rural Aid and hope this donation will bring hope and make life a little easier to some of the most valued members of the Australian landscape,” said Chairman of The Honda Foundation, Mr. Stephen Collins. “This organisation plays a vital role in the operation of Australian agriculture and keeping the farming industry alive in Australia.”

Since 2015, Rural Aid has implemented many successful campaigns, including the Buy a Bale program, raising $4.5 in donations and distributing too many Australian farmers in the form of stock feed, hampers and more.

Wayne Thomson, General Manager of Rural Aid said that the support from The Honda Foundation will make a huge impact in their efforts to help farmers through this very tough time. “Although there has been some rain in parts of NSW, the state is still in the grip of this very debilitating drought.”

“This donation from The Honda Foundation will enable us to deliver much needed support to famers, their families and the community by delivering fodder for their animals, food for their families, water for their tanks, fuel for their vehicles, and mental health should they need it.”

For every new Honda vehicle sold in Australia, the dealership donates $5 and Honda Australia donates $10. More than $10 million has been donated to hundreds of worthy causes across the country, including empowering disadvantaged Australians, providing relief for victims of natural disasters and supporting the development of new technologies and research to fight disease.
